PURPOSE:To surely connect any material including ceramics, plastic and metals to an optical fiber with good accuracy by forming fine grooves, lines, etc., on the outside peripheral surface of the optical fiber and packing powder which generates an adhesive effect when heated on the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:The part 31 at the top end of the optical fiber 3 is the outside periphery of the optical fiber to be inserted into a ferrule 1. The surface of the part 31 is roughened by forming recesses 4 such as fine grooves and lines thereon. The powder 5 which generates the adhesive effect when heated is packed into the recesses of the surface. The fiber is then inserted into the ferrule and is longitudinally and transversely moved until the core part of the optical fiber is positioned to the precise axial center position. The powder melts and the ferrule and the optical fiber inserted into the bore thereof are fixed in the bore if the ferrule is heated upon arrival of the core part at the precise axial center position.
