PURPOSE:To prevent recording waveform from variation due to shock caused by the contact of a head by changing the frequency of a chroma signal included in a recording signal in accordance with the rotational phase of a head at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:A color signal is converted into a low frequency band by a frequency converter 11 and mixed with a luminance signal by a mixer 10 and the mixed signal is amplified and recorded on a tape. Although the color signal is converted into the low frequency band by the converter 11 on the basis of the difference between the color signal and reference frequency outputted from a voltage control oscillator 12, the wavelength of the signal can be prevented from variation at the time of recording by applying a control signal for cancelling the variation of the recording wavelength to the phase which may generate color shade and changing the reference frequency generated from the oscillator 12.
