PURPOSE:To produce a protein A-like substance having high purity in a mass, by adding cysteine to N-terminal or C-terminal amino acid of an active component of a protein A-like substance and using the product as a gene of protein A-like substance. CONSTITUTION:A gene of a protein A-like substance is chemically synthesized and a plasmid vector is constructed to integrate the gene of the protein A-like substance into the vector. The protein A-like substance gene is linked with the plasmid vector to construct a recombinant plasmid, which is used for the transformation of a host cell. The obtained transformation is cultured in a nutrient medium to accumulate proteins containing the protein A-like substance in the cultured product and the accumulated protein A-like substance is recovered from the medium.
