PURPOSE:To make improvements in safety and reliability, by making any operational error in shift operation regulable with the presence of the thrust regulating part formed in a shift plate, when a support mechanism operates a shift lever as using a simple linear shift pattern for shifting. CONSTITUTION:A shift operating mechanism of a sub-transmission for four-wheel drive car use performs switching operation for a gear selection mechanism of a transmission via a control rod 15 in the following process that a shift lever 1 is thrust-operated with a shift knob 4 and thereby, after a connecting mechanism inside a dustproof cover 18 is connected against a spring, the shift lever 1 is linearly operated for shift. The shift operation of the shift lever 1 is guided with engagement between a guide pin 21 and the guide groove 24 installed in a shift plate 22. In the above-mentioned constitution, a thrust regulating projection part 26 is solidly formed in the specified position of the shift plate 22, for example, in a position corresponding to a 2H, and at a shift position of this 2H, any thrust of the guide pin 21 is made so as not to be done.
