PURPOSE:To clean a multitude of heat transfer tubes respectively, surely and effectively and permit the automatic operation of a heat exchanger efficiently by a method wherein high-pressure liquid is injected from an injection nozzle at the inlet end of a heat transfer tube to flow down through the tube while supersonic wave is transmitted into forced turbulent flow areas which are flowing down through the inside of the tube. CONSTITUTION:Injection liquid, entering from a conduit 15, rotates a turbine 30 in a turbine outer cylinder 12 and flows. The rotation of the turbine 30 is caught by a main shaft 33 and is transmitted to reduction gears 34, 35, 36, 36' in a reduction gear casing 11. A cleaning head 10, connected directly to a rotary shaft 37, rotates by the torque of the rotary shaft and injects injection liquid from an injection nozzle 14 sequentially through heat transfer tubes 3. The abnormal turbulence is generated in the heat transfer tube 3 by the injection liquid, injected through the injection nozzle 14, and phenomenon, effective for the separation of foreign materials adhered to the inside of the tube, are generated, however, in-liquid supersonic waves are transmitted from a supersonic wave transmitter 13 into the abnormal turbulent flow whereby a cavitation is accelerated and the removing effect of the foreign materials, adhered to the internal surface of the heat transfer tube 3, may be obtained highly efficiently.
