Apparatus for distributing articles, e.g. fruit, to packing tables 87, 88 comprises an inner endless conveyer 22 and a pair of outer conveyers 21, 23 each fed with articles from a conveyer 20 wherein the outer conveyers are periodically tilted to discharge the articles to the tables and the inner conveyer has a deflector 80 to transfer articles therefrom on to the outer conveyers at an intermediate part thereof. A deflector 85, 86 is arranged across respective belts 21, 23 upstream of the said intermediate point to remove all those articles on the said conveyers not removed by the tilting thereof. The conveyers are mounted in respective casings 24, 25, 26 which mount at their upper adjacent edges guides 74, 76, 78 to retain the articles on the respective conveyers. The casings 24, 28 are adjustably mounted relative to arms 33, 35, 37, Fig. 12 (not shown), whereby the belts may be inclined downwardly towards the inner belt to cause articles thereon to abut the respective guides 76, 78 and are hinged at 55 to the framework of the apparatus for tilting of the conveyers by a pneumatic ram 60 acting against a return spring 61. The conveyers are driven by individual motors, the respective motors 9 for the outer conveyers being mounted on the respective casings to pivot therewith. Tension is maintained in the belts by an adjustable bolt (115), Fig. 14 (not shown), attached to a pair of arms (109) slidable relative to the conveyer casings and which mount a shaft (111) for an end roller (112). |
