PURPOSE:To obtain rotational angle pulses in optional multiples without increasing the number of slits in a slit disk, by constituting a pulse encoder with light emitting elements, the disk which is alternately provided with slit windows and light intercepting sections and rotates, plural light receiving elements, etc. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary disk 5 rotates and its slit passes through the front of a light receiving element array 8, the number of light receiving elements which receive light gradually increases and, after all light receiving elements are once set to their light receiving states, decreases to zero. Then the number again increases. This process is repeated. Therefore, by combining logic circuits and detecting 8 the moment when one of adjacent two light receiving elements only receives the light of a light emitting element 1 and the other is blocked by the light intercepting section of the disk 5, an optical pulse signal from the array 8 is converted into a rotational angle signal which is double of the number of the light emitting elements by means of a waveform shaping circuit 9. Then the output of the circuit 9 is supplied to a rotational angle pulse signal generating circuit 10 and a rotational angle pulse signal is obtained. |
