PURPOSE:To produce a wide flange beam having projections only on the outside surface of one flange by setting the draft of the flange on the side where there are no projections in a universal finishing mill from the forward slip of the ratio between the pitch of the projections of the flange on the side where the projections are formed and the flange thickness. CONSTITUTION:The wide flange beam 1 having the projections 1a intersecting orthogonally with the longitudinal direction is formed by the universal finishing mill having horizontal rolls 2, a vertical roll 3 having grooves 3a on the outside peripheral surface on the side to be formed with the projections and a vertical roll 4 having a smooth outside peripheral surface on the side where the projections are not formed. The draft of the flange on the side having no projections in said universal finishing mill is set in accordance with the forward slip obtd. from the ratio between the pitch of the projections of the flange on the side to be formed with the projections and the diameter of the roll 3 and the ratio between the pitch of the projections and the flange thickness. |
