PURPOSE:To enable use of a vertical magnetic recording head of one-side disposition type which is usable for vertical magnetic recording and reproducing system at a low speed by using a thin high-permeability magnetic film and a magneto-resistance element to form the part of the main magnetic pole facing a medium and constituting selectively either one thereof in the stage of recording and reproducing. CONSTITUTION:A coil 13 for recording is wound in the central part of a main magnetic pole 11A' consisting of a thin high-permeability magnetic film to constitute a magnetic head 11' for recording. The head 11' and a head 11 for reproducing are combined via a nonmagnetic material 14. The head 11' and the head 11 are so arranged as to be selected by an electric circuit in the stage of recording or reproducing. A thin Ni-Fe film, Mo-Ni-Fe, Co amorphous, etc. are used for the thin high-permeability magnetic film. A sputtering method or vapor deposition is used for the formation on such films. A wear-resistant material such as hard glass, crystallized glass, ceramic or the like is used for the body 14. |
