PURPOSE:To control the timing in response to an operation such as variable power or original position movement by lighting an exposure lamp with a delay by the count of a clock set by a microcomputer based on a signal from a printer section. CONSTITUTION:When a copy key is set, transfer paper P is wound on a transfer drum 32 and the drum 32 is driven, a sensor 20 generates a signal, counters 34, 35 are enabled to start counting the clock 40, and when the count is finished, an RC signal is outputted to bring an output of flip-flops 37, 38 to an H level. The control signal of the exposure lamp 6 outputted from the flip-flop 37 turns on the exposure lamp 6 and a scanning base drive circuit control signal outputted from the flip-flop 38 starts a scanning platen 4. Since the exposure lamp 6 is lighted independently of the drive of the scanning platen 4, waste exposure time is avoided.
