PURPOSE:To obviate a driver for car transportation on board and ensure a substantial reduction in cargo handling time by providing on board an automatic guide means for a car equipped with an automatic guide device. CONSTITUTION:At the entrance of a ramp to a parking lot 1 or a car carrier 3, guide way selection data is inputted for a car 2 equipped with an automatic guide device. Then, each car 2 runs and stops at a position on board as specified in the inputted data, according to an automatic guide means 4 provided in the car carrier 3 and the automatic guide device in the car 2. And the car 2 is secured on board, using a lashing device or other effective auto securing means. According to the aforesaid constitution, no driver is required for the transportation of the car 2 into the car carrier 3, thereby enabling a substantial decrease in the number of drivers, and eliminating time for a driver's return to the parking lot 1. Consequently, it becomes possible to carry out continuous cargo loading and lessen cargo handling time.
