PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time considerably by using plural sets of hard rolls facing one another to carry a photographic paper in a development processing liquid while expanding and contracting it interruptedly in the thickness direction of the photographic paper. CONSTITUTION:Plural sets, for example, 5 sets of hard rolls 11-15 facing one another are immersed in a development processing liquid 16 and are stored in a development processing tank 10 in this state to form a U-shaped carrying path. An already exposed color photographic paper 17 is guided by a guide 18 and is caught by the first set of hard rolls 11 and is held between hard rolls 11a and 11b and is carried toward the bottom of the tank 10. The color photographic paper 17 is compressed in the thickness direction when it is carried while being held between hard rolls 11a and 11b, and the color photographic paper is expanded to the original state by the elasticity of paper of a supporting body after passing these rolls. The color photographic paper which passes the first set of hard rolls 11 facing one another passes successively from the second set to hard rolls 12 facing one another to the fifth set of hard rolls 15 facing one another.
