PURPOSE:To avoid making the seeing of the front field of view instantly difficult, by providing a light dimming mechanism in a display mechanism for the front shield so that the display brightness on the front shield is instantly controlled when the front field of view becomes dark abruptly due to a tunnel or the like during daytime running. CONSTITUTION:A light dimming mechanism 2 is provided in a drive data indicating device 1 for indicating data in the field of view in the front shield. Further, the dimming mechanism 2 is associated with the operation of a switch mechanism 9 to lower the display brightness below a certain range, and thereafter the brightness is raised to a predetermined appropriate level after a predetermined time elapse by a timer 11. For example, the manipulation of a switch 9a, or due to a tunnel sensor 9b or a photocoupler the darkness of the surroundings around the vehicle is automatically detected to energize the dimming mechanism 2. As a result when the front field of view becomes dark abruptly, the brightness of display on the front shield is instantly controlled to avoid making the seeing of the front view instantly difficult.
