The present invention relates to a key for a lock. This key comprises a manoeuvring end M as well as a bit 6 with two faces each comprising a multiplicity of grooves 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8e opening out at the region of an inclined part 11 provided on one of the edges of the bit 6 and in the region of a straight part 22 substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bit.
