PURPOSE:To provide a superconductive plate having improved mechanical strength, by alternately superposing Nb plates and Cu plates, rolling them, plating the Cu layers on the opposite outermost surfaces and heat treating them. CONSTITUTION:Two Nb plates 1 and three Cu plates 2, 2' are superposed alternately such that the Cu plates are located on the outermost sides. Air is removed from between the layers and all the side edges of the plates are sealed off by means of the electron beam welding. This layered body is compressed under a hydrostatic pressure at a high temperature so that the thickness of the outermost Cu plates is decreased to 20mum or less. The surface of the Cu plate 2' is then plated with a Cu-Sn alloy layer 4 and the layered body is heat treated to form an Nb3Sn layer on the Nb plates 1. By this heat treatment, a Cu stabilized layer 6 is provided between the Nb layers 5. Thus, a superconductive plate can be obtained, having Nb3Sn layers 8 formed on the outside of the Nb layers 5 to be contacted with the Cu-Sn alloy layer 7. This superconductive plate has not only excellent superconductive characteristic but also improved mechanical strength. |
