PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a metal material with low m.p. as an electrode material, by forming a heat generating part only on a glass layer to improve the heat generating characteristic of a thermal head and forming an electrode layer on the already baked glass layer. CONSTITUTION:First and second electrode layers 2, 4 are formed by such a method that a conductive paste is printed to form a thick film which is, in turn, baked and etched. In order to protect these electrode layers 2, 4, a protective glass layer 5 is printed on each of the electrode layers 4, 5 except for lead take-out parts and baked. The end part of a glazed substrate 10 is cut and a heat generating resistor layer 6 is formed by sputtering or vapor deposition. As mentioned above, because the heat generating part comprising the heat generating resistor layer 6 is positioned on the glass layer 11, a good heat generating characteristic can be obtained. Further, because the electrode layer 2 is formed on the already baked glass layer 11, the exposure thereof to high temp. after formation is prevented and a general metal material with relatively low m.p. can be used as an electrode material. |
