This shelter unit is formed by a sheet covering a support structure and comprises an intermediate part 1 which is extended at each of its ends by a respective part 2 forming the shelter and access point. Each of these parts 2 is extended between a fixed arch and the articulated arch of the support structure. By lowering an articulated arch in contact with the ground, the section of the sheet B lying in the part 2 of the corresponding end, forms a flexible door when opened out, this end part then delimiting a shelter. By lifting this same arch towards the neighbouring fixed arch, the door is folded so as to create in this way an opening for access into the shelter unit. In order to obtain a sizeable passage cross-section in this access opening, means are provided for folding the door into a concertina shape and thus forming folds having a reduced width in order to prevent these folds from obstructing the internal periphery of the access opening. <IMAGE>
