In a measuring head for carrying out measurements in metal melts, which consists of a cylindrical body which can be pushed on to the front end of a cardboard tube, and which is provided on its front end with an axial bore for accommodating the measuring devices and with a cavity situated there behind for accommodating a chill mould for taking samples, the invention provides that adjoining the front bore (2) with the formation of a circumferential annular shoulder (3) projecting inwards is a cavity (4) of smaller diameter which is provided with a radial bore (5) penetrating the wall of the body, and is separated by a segment (7) from a cavity (8) which is open towards the rear end of the body (1) and serves to accommodate a dip sampler/mould (25) and is adapted to the shape thereof, the segment (7) separating the cavities containing a radial bore (9), which completely penetrates the body and which is adjoined in the middle by an axial bore (10) which connects the radial bore (9) to the rear cavity (8), and the body (1) being provided with a bore (11) which extends parallel to the central longitudinal axis in the vicinity of a wall segment and which starts from its rear end and terminates without a junction with the cavities (4, 8) in the region of the front bore (2).
