<p>A gas sparger is provided for causing turbulence and hence good mass transfer in an electrolyte at an electrode surface, by generating a stream of bubbles past it. The sparger consists of a tube part of which is a rigid body and part of which is a microporous hydrophobic PVC battery-separator-quality membrane. The tube is fed by nitrogen at an overpressure of preferably 1 atmosphere and the pores of the membrane are preferably from 1 to 100 microns.</p> |
