PURPOSE:To perform an accurate test of the titled headlight with simple operation by positioning an irradiating device so that an optical axis of its light emitting means corresponds to the optical axis of the headlight and fitting it, and testing directivity of the optical axis of the headlight based on irradiated light of the light emitting means in that state. CONSTITUTION:In case of testing an installing state of the headlight (L) with respect to an automobile body (M), namely, the directivity of the optical axis of the headlight (L) using the irradiating device 2, first, the automobile body (M) on which the headlight (L) is installed is carried in a test area on a conveying path 1 in an automobile body assembly line of a preceding process and stopped at a point of time when the distance to a screen 3 set up at the test area attains a prescribed value. Then, an operator handles the irradiating device 2 and corresponding each positioning leg member 8 of the case 6 to a projecting part (L1) of the headlight (L) of the automobile body (M) and the engaging recessed part 8a is engaged with the projecting part (L1) of the headlight (L). The inside of a vacuum pad 7 is made the negative pressure by an evacuating device by the engagement and the irradiating device 2 is positioned at the prescribed position in the front of the headlight (L).
