PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a rotating drum by rotating the rotating drum in an abrasive, rotating an abrasive container so as to relatively revolve the abrasive and the rotating drum and smoothly polishing the edge part of a drum window part containing a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:The rotating drum 1 is fitted on plural spindle shafts 15, revolved in the direction of an arrow A in the fluid abrasive 2 contained in the container 16. By rotating the container 16 in the direction of an arrow B, the abrasive and the rotating drum 1 are relatively revolved. Thus the edge part at the downstream of the window part 3 into which the magnetic head 20 is inserted is intensively polished to remove burr, etc. Since the abrasive smoothly moves in other parts on the drum, the circularity of the drum is not damaged. As a result, the high quality rotating drum can be efficiently produced which never damages a magnetic tape.
