PURPOSE:To miniaturize and reduce the weight of a printer head by providing a daisy wheel connected to a single motor and a head carriage drive means. CONSTITUTION:When a printer 10 prints a certain line from left to right, a bell crank 34 assumes the first position in which the crank tilts to the left, and an idler gear 40 is inter-meshed with a motor gear 32 and a transmission gear 49 of a gear mechanism 36. Under this condition, a signal for stepping a head carriage is transmitted to a stepping motor driver 94 by a control 88, thus rotating a stepping motor 26 clockwise at a prearranged angle. The rotation of the transmission gear 49 is transmitted as such to a drive gear 54 through a shaft 50 and a one-way clutch 52. Through the intermeshing of the drive gear 54 and a clutch ear 64, a head carriage 14 moves to the right at a prearranged pitch. After moving at the pre-arranged pitch, a character selecting signal is transmitted by the control 88, rotating the stepping motor 26 counterclockwise and stopping when a pre-selected character is positioned at the uppermost location. |
