The present invention relates to a variable-frequency supply device with electromechanical collector, in particular for asynchronous machine, characterised in that it comprises an electric motor 4 coupled to the rotating portion 6 of a collector 5 constituted by a system with alternate active and non-active blades and with brushes, which is connected to a ring and wiper system, and in that the collector 5 with blades and brushes comprises at least two brushes per pole arranged in such a way as to be able, during the rotation of the collector, to be simultaneously in electrical contact with two successive active blades for each pole, each brush having a width less than the distance separating two successive active blades and in that the collector 5 is connected to the wires of an output cable 18 of the supply device and to an electronic circuit 13 for assisting with the commutation of the collector 5. <IMAGE>
