<p>PURPOSE:To increase the contact area of an adhered biofilm, by forming a sheath part into a cylindrical knitted string having loops and fixing the sheath part to a core part. CONSTITUTION:A contact material 1 has a sheath part comprising a cylindrical string part made of the same knitted structure as a braided cord. The string part 2 has numberless loop parts 3 formed so as to protrude to both sides of the string part 2 over the total length thereof in the longitudinal direction. A pipe like core part 5 fixed to the string part 2 by an adhesive 4 is mounted in the cylindrical string part 2 and an air jet structure 6 having a large number of fine holes is provided to the leading end of the core part 5. An air introducing pipe 8 is directly connected to the core part 5 of the contact material 1 and the unstirred areas generated in the loop parts 3 are eliminated by air issued from the jet structure 6 having fine holes mounted to the leading end of the core part 5. By this method, highly efficient treatment of waste water is enabled.</p> |
