PURPOSE:To promote a practical effect of MBT control (minimum advance timing position control when an engine generates maximum torque), while knocking is suppressed, by setting limit values of an ignition timing correction amount respectively in the knock control and the MBT control so that abnormal delay and advance timing is prevented. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of an output of a combustion pressure detecting means (a), a knock detecting means (c), detecting a knocking level, and a peak position detecting means (d), detecting a combustion peak position, are provided. And the first arithmetic means (e) calculates a peak correction amount correcting ignition timing so that the combustion peak position is in a predetermined position generating maximum torque of an engine, while the second arithmetic means (f) calculates a knock correction amount correcting the ignition timing so that a knocking level becomes a predetermined value. While on the basis of an output of an operative condition detecting means (b), an ignition timing setting means (h) sets the basic ignition timing to be corrected in accordance with the above calculated both correction amounts within a range of limit values, set by a limiting means (g), and the basic ignition timing comes serving for controlling an ignition means (i). |
