PURPOSE:To reduce the dependency of a silver halide photographic sensitive material contg. silver iodide on conditions during development when the material is developed with a developing soln. contg. a dialdehyde hardening agent, by incorporating a specified compound into the material. CONSTITUTION:At least one photographic silver halide emulsion layer and at least one auxiliary layer are formed on at least one side of a support. The silver halide emulsion layer contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion contg. silver halide particles contg. silver iodide and the auxiliary layer contains silver halide particles of <=0.5mum average particle size having practically no photosensitivity. The resulting silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a compound represented by formula I (where X is S or =N-R<4>, each of R<1>-R<4> is H, optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic ring, when R<4> is H, each of R<1>-R<3> is not H, and R<1> and R<2>, R<2> and R<3>, or R<3> and R<4> may bond to each other to form a ring). The sensitive material is processed with a processing soln. contg. a dialdehyde hardening agent. The amount of the compound represented by the formula I in the sensitive material is preferably 0.01-10mmol per 1mol silver halide in the silver halide emulsion layer. The preferred silver iodide content is 1-30mol% and the dialdehyde hardening agent is generally used by 1-20g per 1l processing soln. |
