Feather key

The invention relates to a feather key with a central longitudinal through hole in which there is a pressure chamber formed by a closure part screwed into one end of the hole and by a piston connected to the other end of the feather key. The feather key can be extended in the axial direction by introducing a pressure medium into the pressure chamber. The resultant reduction in the width of the feather key allows it to be inserted and removed easily and the feather key rests without play or with prestress in the keyways.
