PURPOSE:To convert to a multi-value picture data closer to an original picture in quality and to improve the grade of a reproducing picture by applying smoothening processing to the data after extension. CONSTITUTION:Input picture data hold the picture element data of 4X4 pieces by a holding part 5, the type of the picture data is discriminated by a matching circuit 6, and converted to the multi-value corresponding to the type of the picture data by a conversion ROM13. The converting data is compared for three lines and smoothened at the matrix of 3X3 by a smoothening processing circuit 16. |
