Applicator roll for paints and the like. Between the roll core (1) with holes (2) for paint-feed from the inside and a pile covering fabric (4), there is arranged a foam layer (3) which makes it possible for the roll surface to follow even rough plaster surfaces and to paint them so as to cover them. In the foam layer (3), holes (2) are formed in essentially the same arrangement as in the core (1). The foam material has closed pores and is solvent resistant. Holes (5) in the pile covering fabric (4) are offset with respect to the holes (2) in the foam layer (3) and in the core (1). The pile covering fabric (4) is loosely seated on the foam layer (3) and is firmly adhesively bonded or welded only in the edge regions. Between the foam layer (3) and the core (1) there is a firm bond along the entire surface. <IMAGE>
