<p>A method and apparatus for preserving and dispensing opened containers of beverages and particularly wines wherein an opened bottle or similar container (12) is placed within a separate enclosure (10) and thereafter an inert gas such as nitrogen is introduced therein until pressures exceeding those desired for dispensing are achieved so as to purge any air from the enclosure (10) and container (12) with the gas pressure being applied equally inside and outside of the bottle or container (12) to thereby preserve the contents of the bottle or container (12) at a peak and consumer acceptable quality. The apparatus includes an enclosure (10) having gas inlet and outlet valves (22, 23) and a fluid dispensing conduit (34) which communicates the beverage with a dispensing valve (24).</p> |
