Molecular weight; 9,000-11,000 (measured by the gel filtration method). Decomposition point; Browns at 160 deg.C and blackens and decomposes at 200 deg.C. Specific rotatory power [alpha]<20>D=-80--84 (C=1.00). Solubility; Soluble in water and slightly soluble or insoluble in methanol, ethyl ether, etc. pH; 6.95 in a 0.1% aqueous solution. Color; Light yellow powder form. Color reaction; Positive to the ninhydrin reaction, etc., and negative to orcinol-hydrochloric acid reaction, etc. Stable by addition of L-cysteine, etc.]. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptococcus and capable of producing an antitumor substance SPF-100-FI is cultivated. In the process, penicillin or a related substance thereof is added to the culture during a period of 3-20hr after entering the logarithmic growth phase in cultivation to carry out the cultivation and afford the above-mentioned substance SPF-100- FI. |
