Specific rotatory power [alpha]<20>D=-80--84 (C=1.00). Solubility; Soluble in water and slightly soluble or insoluble in methanol, ethyl ether, etc. pH; 6.95 in a 0.1% aqueous solution. Color; Light yellow powder form. Color reaction; Positive to the ninhydrin reaction, etc., and negative to orcinol-hydrochloric acid reaction, etc. Stable by addition of L-cysteine, etc.].
