Method of surface treatment of metal components.

There is described a method and apparatus for restoring the surface of a metal component to effect rebuilding of a worn or damaged section of the component. The method involves pre-treatment of the surface to remove impurities and thereafter the deposition and fusion of a metal onto the component by feeding the material to be deposited as a single wire through welding apparatus. The metal is deposited at an accurately controlled rate such that the linear displacement of the metal deposition remains constant during the process.
