<p>A process is claimed for incorporating photographic additives (I) which are insoluble or sparingly soluble in water, into flowable aq. prepns. contg. a hydrophilic colloid to produce a photographic layer. The (I) are mixed with (a) 1 dispersion aid of formula (II), (III), or (IV), (b) 1 dispersion aid of formula (V), (VI) or (VII) and opt. (c) a water-intermediate solvent, and the mixt. is finally dispersed in the aq. compsn. contg. the colloid and opt. other water-soluble or dispersed water-insoluble components. R1, R2 and R3 are H, Cl, (opt. phenyl-substd.) 1-8C alkyl or 5-6C cycloalkyl, R4 is H or Me, R5-8 are H, Cl, Br, or 1-8C alkyl, R9-14 and R22-27 are H, Cl or Br and R15-21 are H, Cl, Br or 1-30C alkyl; 1 of R1, R2 or R3 is 3C alkyl or 5-6C cycloalkyl, 1 of R15-17 and 2 of R5-R8 and R18-R21 are 3C alkyl, the sum of C atoms in R5-8 and R18-21 being 8 and in (II)-(VII) 50% of all the gpss. R4 is H, Z is H, or -PO, Y1Y2, Z1 is -SO3M, -PO. (OM)2 or -PO.Y3OM, Y1, Y2 and Y are M is H, alkali metal or ammonium; m = 1-5; n1 = 4-100; n2-n5 are such that (n2 + n3) and (n4 + n5) are each 8-200; n6 = 1-20 and n7-n10 are such that (n7 + n8) and (n9 + n10) = 2-40.</p> |
