PURPOSE:To improve the sealing property in the titled purifier by previously coating a packing compound which leaves the deposit of a heat-resistant fiber on heating or drying on the desired site of the inner wall of a half metallic case and packing the packing compound in the clearance between the half cases. CONSTITUTION:A heat-resistant fiber mat is wound on the side peripheral part of a honeycomb catalyst 1, the catalyst is put in the specified site of the half members 31 and 32, an appropriate amt. of the packing compound is coated on the appropriate site on the inner wall of the half members 31 and 32, then the half members are matched to compress the members 31 and 32 on each other and finally the leading ends of the mating faces are welded. In this case, the packing compound is fluidized, deformed and packed in a recessed groove 33 and other clearances. |
