1355545 Cross-linked nitrile polymers and foaming thereof BORG-WARNER CORP 8 Dec 1971 [6 Jan 1971] 56941/71 Headings C3C and C3G A cross-linked thermoplastic composition is produced from (a) a thermoplastic polymer having nitrile groups, (2) an epoxy compound in an amount of from 0À1 to 2À5% by weight of said polymer, and (3) a curing agent for the epoxy compound in an amount of from 0À1 to À0À5% by weight of said polymer. The components of the composition may be melt mixed to yield the cross-linked composition, which is then pelletized, mixed with a foaming agent and foamed. In an example, an ABS graft polymer is mixed with an epoxy resin (a digylcidyl ether of bisphenol A) and boron trifluoride monoethylamine, formed into pellets which are then coated with azobis formamide and injection moulded to yield a foamed article. |
