Portable and dismantleable bed for a child, comprising a body 3 made of fabric having a bottom 4 and sides 5 made of fabric and a frame suitable for supporting the body and made of fabric. The frame comprises a frame base 10 which forms an approximately planar platform 17 kept horizontally above the surface on which the bed is placed and comprises bottom supports 11 linked at one end to a central connector 12 which extends under the bottom of the body, and feet 13 linked to a second end of the bottom supports. The framework also comprises vertical corner struts 14 linked to the frame base. The body 3 made of fabric comprises body sides made of fabric 5 linked to a bottom made of fabric 4 to form a structure similar to a box and means for nesting in an adjustable and sliding fashion the structure of the body in the shape of a box on the corner struts 14, so that the bottom of the body rests on the bottom supports 11 and that the sides of the body are tensioned. Members 51 for stiffening the sides are linked to the sides of the body at their upper edge and extend along the whole width of the sides of the body. Stiffening members for the bottom are linked to the body and extend through the bottom from one side to the other. The portable bed which results has a much improved rigidity and resistance in relation to the bed body made of fabric of the prior art. <IMAGE>
