The sulphurised material, for use in adsorption of Hg vapour, is made by formation of elemental S by controlled reaction of H2S with oxyqen in volume ratio 0.2-2, pref. equimolar, at below 200 deg.C for 1-18 hours, inside the pores of a previously-dried natural silicate of attapulgite, sepiolite or bentonite type. Reaction conditions are such that the final prod. is elemental S deposited on the catalytic centres, without further reaction to higher oxidn. states.
|
