PURPOSE:To prevent insufficient recording by detecting a region whose recording characteristic is changed because of the reflectance being at the outside of a prescribed range caused by the change in the characteristic of an optical recording medium in advance and inhibiting a signal from being recorded onto the said region. CONSTITUTION:When a light spot L starts scanning on a guide track 51, a signal in response to the reflectance of an optical recording disc is outputted proportional to an output VR of a low pass filter 126. When the output VR exceeds a voltage VR corresponding to the upper limit of the reflectance, an output of a NOT gate 129 goes to a high level. Even when the output VR reaches a voltage VL corresponding to the lower limit of the reflectance or below, an output signal (f) goes to a high level. That is, when the reflectance of the optical recording disc is at the outside of a prescribed range (the recording characteristic is changed), the output signal (f) of the NOT gate 129 goes to a high level and a CPU inhibits the recording operation. |
