PURPOSE:To measure oxygen with high accuracy even with a low melting sample by providing a device for cooling the sample to be introduced into a closed gas flow passage at the introducing port of a sample introducing means. CONSTITUTION:A refrigerant of a cooler 16 is circulated to the low melting sample 2 in the sample introducing port 6 to cool the sample 2 to a prescribed temp. via a jacket 17 and to maintain the sample in a solid state. Such sample is dropped by an injecting bar 8 into a melting furnace 4 where the sample is melted. The generated gas is entrained in the circulating carrier gas in the closed gas flow passage 1 and is introduced into an oxygen pump 5. The oxygen in the sample is discharged by the pump 5 to the outside of the flow passage. The oxygen quantity is calculated by the quantity of electricity of the oxygen pump in this stage. The release of the oxygen from the sample having a low m. p. prior to the start of the measurement is thus prevented and the accuracy of measurement is improved. |
