A colour picture tube (cathode ray tube) (1) in a colour television set requires, in a known manner, a demagnetising coil (5) and an earth strip (9). According to the invention, the earth strip (9) is formed by a conductive, non-insulating sheath (11) of the demagnetising coil (5).
