Integrated coking and hydroconversion process comprises (a) treating a carbonaceous feed having a Conradson carbon content of at least 5 wt. percent in a coking zone at coking conditions, including a pressure of 0-100 psig, to produce coke and a vapour phase product, including hydrocarbons boiling above 1050 deg. F.; (b) separating a heavy bottoms fraction having an initial boiling point of 650 deg. - 1050 deg. F. and having a Conradson carbon content of at least 5 wt. percent, including the hydrocarbons boiling above 1050 deg. F., from the vapour phase product; (c) adding a hydroconversion catalyst, or its precursor, to at least a portion of the heavy bottoms fraction to form a mixture; and (d) subjecting at least a portion of the mixture of step (c) to hydroconversion conditions in the presence of hydrogen, in a slurry hydroconversion zone to produce a hydroconverted oil.
|
