<p>The present invention provides novel condensed benzopyrone compounds of formula (I) wherein n is 1 or 2. In a preferred compound R2 is 2-methylphenyl group, n is 1 and R1 is a carboxy group in the 7-position, to give the compound 3-(2-methylbenzylidene)-1,2,3,9-tetrahydro-9-oxo-cyclopenta¢b!¢l!benzopyran-7-carboxylic acid. Compounds of formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are useful for the prevention and treatment of diseases in which anaphylactic mediators are involved. The compounds and their salts are useful in the prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis, hay fever, urticaria, dermatitis and, in particular, they are effective in prevention and treatment of allergic bronchial asthma.</p> |
