1446793 Railway vehicle bogies SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 19 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 40814/74 Addition to 1330919 Heading B7L A bogie comprising a main transverse beam 2 and two axles 8 each carrying a pair of wheels, each axle being linked to the beam by two pivoted radius arms 5, one on each side of the bogie, as described in Specification 1,330,919, is characterized in that each radius arm is secured to an associated leaf spring 12 by means of an endless cable 21. The cable is looped around pulleys 16 at the two ends of a rod 15 supported by the leaf spring and passes over a guide 17 detachably secured to the radius arm. The guide includes two side-by-side channels 18 to receive the cable runs and side members 20 to retain the cable in the guide. The surface of the guide is shaped at 22 to engage the cable as the radius arm swings laterally of the bogie. The guide 17 may be replaced by other guides having different shapes 22 to give different armrestoring characteristics as the arm swings from side-to-side. |
