1381693 Water-insoluble monoazo dyestuffs CASSELLA FARBWERKE MAINKUR AG 15 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12409/73 Heading C4P New monoazo dyes have the formula where X and Y are each H; halogen; ON; nitro ; or alkyl, alkylsulfonyl or alkoxy of 1-6 C; and Z is H; alkyl or alkenyl of 1-6 C and opt. subs. by CN, OH, acetoxy, alkoxy of 1-4 C, phenoxy, phenoxyacetoxy, monoalkylamino of 1-4 C or dialkylamino of 1-4 C in each alkyl moiety; phenalkyl having 1-2 C in its alkyl moiety; cycloalkyl having 3-6 C, optionally substituted with CN or alkyl or alkoxy having 1-4 C.; or phenyl opt. subs. by CN, or alkyl or alkoxy of 1-4 C. The dyes are used for dyeing or printing synthetic hydrophobic materials including polyacrylonitrile, polyamides, polyvinyl compounds, cellulose acetates, and polyesters, especially polyethylene glycol terephthalate. Yellow, orange or red colours are produced. The dyes are prepared by diazotization and coupling reactions.
