PURPOSE:To decrease the leak current of a liquid crystal and to improve the service life characteristic and driving characteristic thereof by forming at least the surface of a spacer of an adsorptive material. CONSTITUTION:Glass fibers are used as the spacer material and the surface thereof is coated with MgO (adsorptive material) to provide the adsorptivity to the surface. A gel-like aq. soln. 3 of Mg(OH)2 is spray-coated by a spray gun 2 to the long-sized glass fibers 1 prior to cutting and thereafter a heat treatment is executed. The glass fibers which are coated with MgO and have excellent adsorptive power are thereby obtd. After the glass fibers are cut, the fibers are suspended in, for example, freon and are stuck by a spray coating method onto the panel substrate on one side and with such fibers as the spacer, both substrates are sealed by an adhesive agent. A liquid crystal is thereafter injected between the substrates, by which a liquid crystal display panel is constituted. |
