The invention relates to a switch having a housing in which, in addition to the functional parts such as switching fingers, drivers, contact springs, contact webs, contact plugs etc. which are required for switching at least one load on and off, an adjustable sliding spring is arranged which slides on a contact region of a resistance body of a variable electrical resistor which is arranged in a perforation in the base of the housing and partially projects out of the housing. The functional parts of the switch are therefore not adversely affected or, at worst, are insignificantly affected by the heat loss radiated by the resistor, even when the adjustable electrical resistor is subjected to a high load.
