To activate the control valve for operating a lifting cylinder, two control amplifiers are provided which are alternatively connected to the control valve so that the optimum controller for levelling the command variable is activated during a change in the command variable and the controller set in optimum manner for levelling a disturbance variable is activated during a constant command variable, as a result of which the cost of constructing the circuit arrangement is reduced.
