PURPOSE:To effectively utilize excess electric power by acing a cathode and an anode via a partition made of oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte, and supplying oxygen gas and methane to generate electric power. CONSTITUTION:A reaction container 1 is partitioned in a cathode chamber 3 and an anode chamber 4 with a partition 2 made of oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte. A cathode 5 is sticked on the partition 2 inside the cathode chamber 3, and an anode 6 is sticked on the partition 2 inside the anode chamber 4. Oxygen gas or oxygen-containing gas is supplied to the anode chamber 4, and methane or methanol is supplied to the cathode chamber to constitute power generating equipment. When electric power is excess, power source 7 is connected to obtain methanol from methane, and when electric power is required, a load is connected between electrodes 5, 6 and electric power is generated with methanol. Therefore, excess electric power is effectively utilized to generate electric power. |
