The voluminous feather or down-like filling material consists completely or for the most part of chemical silk fibre aggregates (1). Each of these fibre aggregates (1) consists of two types of chemical silk filament sections (3 or 5). These are in each case formed into loops. A large number of such chemical silk filament sections (3 or 5) are interconnected by their ends by melting at a common collection point (4). The drop-shaped or ring-shaped loops with the bending regions (2) of the first chemical silk filament sections (3) are not crinkled or are only crinkled to a lesser extent than those of the second chemical silk filament sections (5). The second chemical silk filament sections (5) have a large number of bending points (6); these are curved more tightly than the bending regions (2) of the first chemical silk filament sections (3) and extend in an irregular tangled arrangement between the drop-shaped or ring-shaped loops of these first chemical silk filament sections (3). The filling material is suitable in particular for fillings of cushions, duvets, quilts and waddings.
