PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity as well as excellent resistance to printing, environment and heat by laminating an amorphous silicon photoconductive layer and amorphous carbon layer contg. hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive body is formed by laminating the amorphous silicon photoconductive layer 3 and the amorphous carbon layer 2 contg. 5-40atom% hydrogen. The amorphous carbon layer 2 contg. 5-40atom% hydrogen has a semiinsulating characteristic as the specific resistance thereof is >=10<7>OMEGA-cm. Said layer has high hardness with >=1,000 Vickers hardness and about 6 relative dielectric constant. The electrophotographic sensitive body which is highly resistant to environment and heat and has the high sensitivity and high resolution is obtd. if such transparent amorphous carbon layer having a high hydrogen content is used as the surface protective layer of the amorphous silicon photoconductive layer 3.
